**Please note** – this is a hand made fabric. Inconsistencies in weave structure may be present. These are part of the character of this fabric, and not considered a flaw. The Ikat pattern is hand screen printed on linen warp threads, which is then handwoven. It is then cut & sewn onto the cotton base cloth.
The Mati Collection is a soulful ode to earth, hand, and spirit—three fabrics rooted in the art of slow craft. Named after Sanskrit words that speak to consciousness and creativity, each textile draws from a color palette of earthen clay, ash, stone, and sand—tones inspired by an adobe style open-air pottery studio in Goa, India (Named Mati Earth) & the southwest landscape of, Austin, TX.
The word MATI means; Thought, intention, insight in Sanskrit.
Mati is a fabric of dualities—earth and air, stillness and motion, simplicity and craft. A handwoven cotton stripe forms the base: calm, linear and intentional. Then, a separate fringe—an ikat woven in 100% linen—is attached, adding a dimension of movement & depth. This textile is a study in composition & craft. And an ode to what it truly means to be hand crafted. It couldn’t exist any other way.
